This is an update from cuz Mark Tyler in Garland.

UPDATE:
Okay, the Tyler Family Reunion “Special Event” is right around the corner on October the 2nd. My lil’ Cuz Cyndi Witty has volunteered to be the “Food Sign-Up Chairlady”. She will be posting items that folks can volunteer for. The meat, beans, and taters have been taken care of but everything else is needed. If you …missed the Event Posting (in Facebook) or want to review all the details again just search [ Tyler Family Reunion "Special Event" ]. It would also be helpful if everyone would RSVP as soon as possible so we can make sure we have plenty to accommodate everyone

Cyndi’s contact info is:
972-222-3506 and email maggiesmomma@gmail.com

Mark said the get together is going to be at his house.
We have a trip planned to go to Canton, TX (about 45 minutes) to visit the cemetery where our Great Grandfather is buried.  Elisha Washington (Sr) Tyler was born about 1845 in Copiah Co. Mississippi. He died Oct. 26, 1919 in Canton, TX and is buried in the Canton Cemetery.

Mark said there is a new motel just a couple of blocks from his house, if anyone needs a place to stay.

Check your calenders and circle the date:  Oct. 2, 2010

See you in Garland,

Punk

Wanda couldn’t come to the family reunion we just had June 26 & 27 in Clarendon.

She wanted so bad to get to come this year. She said she just wanted to get some “hugs” and see everybody.

So, we decided in our business meeting, that we would do something a little different this year.

We “The Tyler Family” are going to have a reception for Wanda on Saturday, October 2, 2010 somewhere in the Dallas area, so that Wanda and all the others (hopefully Vina & Ron and Aunt Nita and Aunt Delene) that live in central and south Texas and couldn’t come to Clarendon this year, can get together and share some hugs, fellowship, love, fun, laughter, stories, pictures, and oh yes, we’ll have some food too.

All of the details have not been worked out, but everything is in the works. We want to plan and have a really good “party”, so everyone mark you calendars, and make plans to come to Dallas, October the 2nd.

This reception is for everyone, no mater where you live, or whether you came to the Clarendon Reunion or not.

Also, I need add, that we will have the reunion next year (2011) in Clarendon the week after Father’s Day, the last part of June. Next year (2011) will be the last time (for several years anyway) that we will have the reunion in Clarendon. In the future, the reunion will be moved to a different location each year.

If you would like to have the reunion for 2012 (or anytime in the future) in your area or city, please make a proposal and presentation next year at our business meeting. We need to get the younger families involved. We need things to do and places to go that consist of something more like a “vacation type” get-together. I’d say that all ideas are welcome, and the sky’s the limit.

If we don’t move the reunion around, make it a vacation, do something different, and create something to get the younger generation involved, then the Tyler Reunion along with all of our family closeness, our family pride, and our caring & love for one another is going to start slipping away. Let’s don’t let that happen!

Love you all,
Punk Campbell

PS: Mark, Kenny and Lin are working to pull things together for the Oct. 2 Reception for Wanda, which will probably be in Garland. Lin said he would do the BBQ, Mark is finding us a place and Kenny is helping put something together like a bus ride to Canton, TX (about 45 minutes) to visit the cemetery where our Great Grandfather is buried.  Elisha Washington (Sr) Tyler was born about 1845 in Copiah Co. Mississippi. He died Oct. 26, 1919 in Canton, TX and is buried in the Canton Cemetery.

PPS: My computer crashed about 3 weeks ago. My cell is 806-205-3151. If you miss me, leave a message and I’ll call you back.  Punk

Hi Family!
The 2010 reunion is coming up on us quickly! I apologize for getting the letter out so late. The past few months have been a little hectic here in Michigan as we organize and plan for our move back to the Lone Star State. Daniel and I will be in Corpus Christi this weekend to secure a place to live. Please pray that we find the “perfect” place.
I would really appreciate it if you could forward this email on to the rest of your family members so that we can spread the word. I will be sending out a hard copy to those that I have addresses for first thing next week. If you do not wish to receive a hard copy of if you address has changed since last year, please let me know before Monday. Also, I want to apologize if you receive this multiple times. We have several different ways of communication and you may be on more than one list.
Thank you for being such a wonderful family!!
Hope you can make it to the reunion!
Love,
Trina

11/21/1918 – 06/07/2010

Another generation of the Tyler Family has now passed.

The last of the 13 children of Watt and Lillie Tyler has now joined her husband and the rest of her brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews that have gone before, to be with our LORD Jesus in a better place for the rest of eternity.

Thank You GOD for your blessings and for your mercy!

She Will Be Missed

Hazel (Tyler) Campbell – 11/21/1918
– She just turned 91 years young –

We had mother’s birthday party a few weeks ago.  She is actually doing pretty good.

We (Punk, Pete & Jeff and families) got her 2 new afghans.  Her friend Bunny Owens got her a birthday cake and her friend Pat McAnear got her a pant suite.
We had a good time, about 25 of the nursing home residents came to the party.
She loved the cake, especially the icing.

Everyone loves Mother

Just a quick note and a couple of pictures to welcome everyone to our new family website. I encourage EVERYONE to participate and become an active part of this site. We are all anxious and eager to know more about our family’s history and to be able to hear and share stories about times past and present.

I stopped by the Claude Cemetery a few days ago and took some pictures of Granny and Granddad’s Gravesite. I had not been out there in a long time, but I’ve never forgotten where the Tyler Gravesite is. You turn in at the main entrence and go past the old windmill.  – By the way – they have replaced the old wooden windmill with a new metal one.  But it’s still right there in the same place. Anyway, go past the windmill to the last road (or lane) and go left (north) about 100 feet and look to your left. Look past about 2 or 3 rows of graves and you will see the big Tyler Marker. You can’t miss it.

I’ve been needing (and actually intending) to go by the cemetary every since Bonnie and I moved back.

Jim T. and Kenny went to the cemetary during the family renion (june 2009) and discovered some erosion and damage that we need to fix. I took some pictures and will get an estamite for the repairs. I’ll post the repair estimate as soon as it’s finished and we can decide what we want to do.

Here are the pictures, if you haven’t been to Granny and Granddad’s Gravesite lately:

I just got the site up and running, and this is the first post.  We can change it in any way or do whatever everyone wants to with the site.
We can take it as far (or build it as big) as we want.

I thought I could set this up so anyone could register and make posts (add info under your own user name), but so far, I haven’t figured out how we can do that.  I guess that’s what I get for thinking  : -)

BUT, all you need to do to add content, is call or email me and I’ll give you the “admin” login and password.
And that’s allright, that way only our family or people we give the password to will be able to add content. That way we can keep it private and not have a lot of SPAM and Bad Stuff.

You can register and add “comments” to existing posts, - you just can’t add a new post without the admin password.

Just call or email me for the login and password.  punk@cebridge.net
If you need help making a post or a comment, or anything else,  just let me know.

Also, we will need different people to take the lead for different categories of the site. Categories like History, Family Tree, Pictures and etc. all need different individuals to take the lead in the development and organization.

If you like it, if you don’t like it, if you have ideas, if you think we should make changes, if you have a better wordpress theme, if you want to take lead on the content for a category, or if you just want to chat, just email me at:  punk@cebridge.net

Here’s to the past and the present – enjoy,
Punk Campbell
