During the 2009 family reunion, I (Punk) was ask to get bids on the repair of Granny and Granddad’s grave site in Claude.

It was in a bad shape. All three graves had sink-holes around them and Aunt Alice’s grave cover had sunken about 5 inches on left side. The curbing was broken and miss-aliened. It also needed to be leveled up and new chatt (crushed marble) added.

I got a bid from Wallace Monument and presented it at the 2010 reunion. The bid was for what I thought was a ridiculous amount of $1,687. I said that if someone would come help me, we could do the labor ourselves. Jim T said he would come up and help in the Fall after the weather cooled down. We decided that would work!

In mid October Jim T and Jan came up and spent a few days with Bonnie and me. We spent 2 days in Claude working on the site. It really looks nice!

We also spent some time working on Nell and Vick’s grave site, it was not too bad – we just needed to align and replace some curbing and clean it up.

Aunt Nell did not have a foot stone (Vic and Greg do have foot stones), and their “death date lines” had never been put on the main head stone.

So we went ahead and ordered a small stone for Aunt Nell and also are having the death dates put on the head stone for Nell and Vick.

We took some before and after pictures. But, the “before” pictures don’t really show the extent of the damage or how bad the sink-holes and gave cover really were. But, maybe you can get an idea of what it needed?
