We need everyone to contact all of your immediate family and encourage everyone that can possibly come, to be at the Reunion if at all possible!
If you can only spend one night, drive or fly in on Friday and go home Saturday after the BBQ Dinner. That’s Great
Even, if you live close enough to drive in on Saturday and have BBQ. That Great Too! We just want to see everyone and have some fun, and as Cousin Wanda says “get some hugs”.
Last Year at the Reunion in Clarendon, we only had 17 people and that included me & Bonnie and Aunt Lea (we live there).
This year is a TEST to try to include or incorporate a vacation-type-event with lots of things to do, along with all types of other vacation possibilities.
These possibilities could include all sorts of ideas and adventures. You could leave Saturday Evening and go to Austin or San Antonio for anything that you like. There are all types of adventures and fun things to do in and around Wimberly. And, it’s only about a 1 hour drive to Fredericksburg and the wine country. I was in Fredericksburg visiting Brother Pete at the deer lease last year, and we went to wine tastings at 4 different wineries. Man, was that fun.
Like I said, this is a test. Come to the Reunion and voice your opinion. We need ideas that work! We need ideas for places to go next year! Things to do? What to do? Who will help? Do you want to keep the Reunion going? Is the younger family going to step up? What’s next?
The Plea For Help Is: “For Everyone To Call All Of Your Immediate Family”
We need a head count for each family by June 15. We are getting the BBQ (brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken) from the world famous Salt Lick and we need to know how much to order.
If you have questions or comments, or need to speak with me, or tell me how many in your family will be there, just call me. 806-205-3151 – cell
If I’m on an appointment, or can’t take your call, leave me a message and I’ll call back. I promise!
Please email me the RSVP number by June 15th.
My email is punk@cebridge.net
I hope and pray that you can all come!
Love you all,
Cousin Punk

#2 – 2011 Tyler Reunion – Places to Stay
Filed Under General | Leave a Comment
Here are some places to stay that are in or around the town of Wimberley.
This is a brochure I picked up when I was there, it’s kinda hard to read because my scanner is old (like me) and don’t work to good with this computer!
It might be easier to just go to one of the hotel sites.
Here is a link to Wimberley on Priceline. It says there are 45 places around Wimberly
http://travela.priceline.com/hotel/searchResults.do?jsk=9803010a2103010a20110515185706d72021560456&key=gnqcjyh4&showDP=y&NYOPRedirNI=null
You might find something more reasonable in San Marcus, it about 30 minutes South. Here is a link to Priceline for the places to stay in San Marcus. It says there are 52 places. (looks like there may be some duplicates)

This last link for San Marcus did not work. Try to copy and past it in your browser or just go to Priceline.com or one of the other hotel sites.

Some more places:
And still even more places to stay:
I will try to put up some maps and some pictures in a couple of days.

Reunion Planning:
Bonnie and I met Mark and Jenny at Barry and Betty’s (Bee’s) home in Wimberley about a month ago. We had an absolutely great time.
The purpose of the trip was to plan the 2011 Tyler Family Reunion.
Everything is coming together, and I will keep everyone posted as we go along.
So far the schedule looks like this:
* Friday Evening: (for those who can make it in on Friday)
Hamburgers at Barry’s house around 6
* Saturday: Lutheran Church – 101 Spoke Hill Dr in Wimberley
Big Breakfast 7:30
World Famous Salt Lick Barbeque 12 Noon
Business Meeting at 2
Leftovers for Early Snack that evening at 5
Clean kitchen & facility 7 and be out of building by 8
* Sunday: Breakfast @ Barry & Betty’s
Devotional breakfast 8:00 AM
Due to the dry weather and the burn bans (with some areas including grills & BBQ pits) across the State, we’ve decided that this year we should not even attempt to do our own barbeque.
I had heard of the Salt Lick for years, but have never been there, nor have I ever had the privilege to lap-a-lip around one of their world famous smoked ribs nor tasted what Pete Campbell says is the best-darn smoked brisket in the whole world!
And Barry Tyler agrees with Pete that it’s got to be the best gall-dang BBQ this side of heaven!
So being that the Salt Lick is only about 20 minutes from Wimberley, and we can’t do our own BBQ this year, – Problem Solved – the Salt Lick is doing the meat this year. Are we lucky or what?
We’ll be servin’up some-of-all their whole layout; brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken.
But, we will do our own sides and all the fixins to go with it.
So, hook-up the wagons, gather up all the kids and lets all get together at the river, the Blanco river that is, and have a Tyler Reunion that will be remembered and talked about for years to come.
There are all types of things (for the old, the young and in between) to do in Wimberley.
Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be posting pictures and information about the different activities available for all ages. Things like the Blanco River (we’ll have private access to the river), Canyon Lake is right there, and the town shopping area is something to see with the Blanco River running right through the middle of it. It is amazing, it’s beautiful, what more can I say – It’s the Texas Hill Country.
Check back often, I will add more pictures in a couple of days. Also, Barry is putting together directions to on how to get to their house and I’ll post phone numbers for places to stay and info on other things to do.
See you all in Wimberley,
Punk
